let us not be moral police here.
Its illegal for an employer to charge for H1B. You cannot expect employee to know and enforce the law. Employers know its illegal to charge money and in this case his employer is in violation of law.
I wasn't moral policing, I was just laying out the legal stand that anybody can have under these circumstances. I am sure that the so called "Desi shop owner" is not so dumb to so flagrantly violate the law when his employee is going by the book, unless the employee is seriously gullible.
I agree it is illegal for employer to charge for H1B, and of course the employer is in violation of the law, but one needs to ascertain that the employee is not a willful accessory to that violation.

I have read lot of articles on money transfer.....and all said money can come from India only if it is for education or medical reasons. ....... we need to show proof for the same too....
Anyway, whoever was able to do it.....good for him :-)
I found a guy here who is giving me his dollars in US in exchange of rate of Rs40=$1. I am losing some money in this transaction.....but I guess....I will have to take it :(

came across "www.desicrunch.com" !! reviews on this website are streotype but if used honestly it could be useful to the community.
google it...
i know desi crunch.
in my humble opinion, we will never find justice and fairness here. UK has already moved in that direction as well. at the rate it is going, every year the GC queue gets longer by _seven_ years.
what is the point of giving me a GC when i'm 70 years old? I've been enslaved all my productive life. What'll i do with a GC in a senior citizen's home?
sadly, the main instrument in our exploitation have been other desis. people at work use my work to become CTOs. i get 500 buck a _year_ increase. when i complain they say "indians can't talk" so they can't rise. what crap. I've lived all over the world and no one ever said i could not talk. they just want to come up with ways to take credit of your work.
tell me, would they ever let a new mexican (even if he is a genius), work in anything except washing dishes or a pizza shop?
Since we cannot vote, and don't have enough money to lobby (bribe) the politicians, we're orphans here. here money talks, BS walks.
a gori told me once - 10 years ago indians used todrive mercedes, now most of them seem poor, now russians drive mercedes. i told her, indians are poor because by law most of them are forbidden from doing anything else except what the govt authorises them to do. russians come direct on GC. land of opportunity, right.
Guys, write to the Indian parliament, Indian foreign ministry, prime minister. I know they're useless, but they're good at shaming others, especially goras. if we can't get justice, at least we can get some satisfaction by shaming these a**holes.

You create your own luck, my friend!! God is not working against you or anybody else.
Very unexpectedly, just last year in a hospital, the doctor told me that unless I get operated ASAP, there is not much chance for me to live. As I was still trying to digest that news, I was thinking...
***k the Green card. ***k my job. I just want to live few more years until my son grows to at least 18 (he was just 1-and-a-half at that time).
And I really laugh about the whole incident now. And when I see others vent or getting upset about something, I can't help but get a smile. Because I learnt the hard way that we never appreciate what we have got and always complains about what we haven't got.
It's New Year time!! Enjoy and cherish your presence. And forget about the job/visa for a day or two.
I agree with you Punjabi, I just got an car accident awhile back and thought the same thing like you. even a NORMAL situation is a blessing. we should always appreciate everything that we have and then from there maybe all the things that we always want will come by themselves.
Happy New years All ... Let's enjoy and appreciate whatever that we have :)
Hopefully next year will be better that this year.
Regards,

COMMENT ON UNANIMOUS CONSENT AGREEMENT
WASHINGTON, D.C. U.S. Senators Bill Frist (R-Tenn.), Chuck Hagel (R-Neb.), Mel Martinez (R-Fla.), Jon Kyl (R-Ariz.), John McCain (R-Ariz.), Lindsey Graham (R-S.C.) and John Cornyn (R-Texas) today released the following joint statement regarding the unanimous consent agreement to bring comprehensive immigration reform legislation back to the Senate floor Monday:
Under the unanimous consent agreement reached today, the Senate will resume the immigration debate next week. Senate Republicans are united in their commitment to an open and full debate on multiple amendments -- just as we have done on other bills of this magnitude like bankruptcy and class action reform. We are willing to put differences aside so we can get on with the important work to be done securing our borders and grappling with the 12 million illegal immigrants currently living in our country. We are also in agreement that efforts to curtail the debate prematurely will only derail this process. We call on Senate Democrats to allow an open debate and votes on this complex and challenging issue.

Hi
It looks like most people are of the opinion going for term life and investing extra money in Mutual fund or Securities rather than going for Whole life and paying for lot high premiums.
So now my question is
(1) can you list companies and term life policies that you found better and more comptitative compared to others in market, along with their plus and minus
(2) List important websites for such comapnies
(3) Does Having GC and not having GC makes significant difference in terms of Premium for the Term Life Policy
Also list other informative sources for Term or Life Insurance Policies
Thanks

"1) Name of the City where Visa was issued: ( Did you write Advance Parole ?)"
--I put USA.
"2) Date of Visa Issued: ( Did you write Date of issuing Parole ?)"
--Did not write anything.
"My wife has gone to India. She has her Passport with her two Parole Approvals and her new extended H-4 Approval. Does she need anything else other than these documenys ? "
--That's about it. Doesn't need anything else. If she is not getting her visa stamped and planning on returning on AP, she should just give AP to the officer and say that she is seeking entry on AP. Officer would direct her for secondary process where she will get her AP/i-94 stamped.
I guess you gave a copy of your documents to your wife. Even if you did not, you shouldn't worry much. She should be ok.

Getting Bernanke/media support will never be an alternative to IV efforts. They will, at best, complement it.
I stand corrected that we still need to send letters and faxes to Senators and Bush. But a little push from the Fed won't hurt IV's efforts, would they?
