Any thoughts why EB2 India hasn't gone beyond Apr 04 for over a year.
Is this because of EB3 to EB2 conversions? If so then the likelihood of EB2 - I dates moving a lot in Oct bulletin are low.
Are there any 'guesstimates' out there for the number of EB3 to EB2 conversions?
The main reason apart from stated ones above - "FBI new name check 6 month policy". Lot of old people which were struck up with name check from long time are getting cleared now.

It's OK to stay while change of status (COS) is pending if COS was filed before I-94 expiration (your case). Even though your wife will be technically out of status after 1/3/09, she is not going to accumulate unlawful presence because her stay is authorized by US Attorney General. Out of status is not a big deal. A person who came on H1 and filed for AOS does not have any status if H1 expires, but that person is lawfully present in US.
So wait for a decision on COS and if it is denied, your wife has 180 days to get a lawful status or to pack and leave without any adverse consequences.

trench warfare was a standoff tactic but was eventually made redundant by invention of tanks.
Same way this standoff wont remain forever (of course many waiting EB2/3 I might lose patience ), either GOP will get into power and force the piecemeal through or Hispanic caucus might gain even more power to force CIR through.
Repeated failures might weaken the CIR coalition (Refer the Greg Siskind post about MALDEF chief few months back).
gop will not force piecemeal..... i heard that us chamber of commerce gives a lot of money to gop...... chamber of commerce wants cir..... they will oppose piecemeal if gop is in power.... maybe they already did oppose it the last time gop was in power......

She will be going to full time dental school, and this course does not have credit system and it is flat 2 year course.
and for this course there is not in-state fee, fee is same for either for in-state resident or student coming from outsidde, this couse is specially desinged for internation trained dentist.
and mai reason is I want to change her status on F1 is , if by any reason if I am out of H1B she will be NOT effected and as well she will be eligible for part time work also and more important she will get 1 yr opt option at the end of course.

pledging and donating regularly is a novel concept for immigrant population, there has been some market research as well done on this when I was back in business school - feels a long time back!
Good to see folks coming out and signing up for recurring donations - every small amount counts as long as it is recurring.
For folks who want to celebrate the procurement of Greencard, it is fine as well but let's try focusing on the present than on future or past (courtesy: dialog from Rang De Basanti)...not trying to demean but trying to emphasize on the importance of present day!

For the record, that did seem to help and can be credited (at least partially) for the reversal of USCIS' stated position during the July '02 visa bulletin fiasco. It also brought IV and our issues a fair amount of publicity.
It's easy to be an armchair critic... at least IV as an organization does something. :)
Regardless, if you have any creative suggestions, feel free to post.

it is not advisable to leave US while your extension is being processed. I would suggest waiting for it to get approved and then schedulingan appointment (in India) or in canada before leaving for india and get the new visa stamped.

I understand your frustration, but its like holding IV responsible for getting your GC - that does not seem right.
Contributing now is important; and after getting gc's, its equally important to support the people who are still stuck in the process.
Yeah I agree, I'm a regular donor anyway. If my GC is getting delayed, then for every year after 2012 I would cut my rent by 100-200 a month :) All other expenses too.

I filed my 485/EAD/AP last year and recently changed my address. Besides filing an AR11, what are the other steps I need to do? Should I be calling USCIS to make sure the new address gets reflected on my 485 application?

Yes or you can do it online too. It takes a while for the change to reflect, but you will know when it happens as you will receive an update through email and usually also a confirmation letter from CIS.

Hi, I have 3 yrs exp. as a software engineer. I have a master's degree . In order to be qualified for EB2, which is better to be put on the job ad, BS+5 or MS+2? Based on my understanding:
BS+5: BS is believed to be qualified enough for the software engineer position. But BS+5 may not be qualified for EB2?
MS+2: Master degree is good for EB2, but wondering if the DoL thinks it is necessary for a SE position.

I am sure if Guest Woroker Programs and hence CIR is enacted...there will be a free for all...illegals scrambling to ge their Tax etc in place so that they wont be deported. Hopefully they are not allowed to file for PR so soon that there is a even bigger queue for I485...and even CIR ends up providing no relief to us.
