Slow and steady is good in contrast to arbitrary, jerky movements, suddenly forward and then suddenly backward into the ice age, which does only harm and no good to anyone. Like they did it in July 07 and then closed down the gates.
I'm hoping EB2-I marches right into 2005.
Hopefully, EB3-I will also see forward movements well into 2002. Let's keep all our fingers crossed.

Why don't you start a similar forum for "going back to India" ? I hate to burst your "bubble of hope" but Canadian population and job market is limited and the opportunities for professionals like us are limited. Why not consider going back to India and taking up some of the lucrative opportunities in middle management in the IT industry.
The Indian economy is booming and the salaries are excellent. You just need to make some adjustments with quality of life (pollution, traffic). Atleast its better than going to Canada, living in limbo while looking for suitable jobs for a long-time, sometimes even doing odd jobs just to make ends meet. I hate our Indian mentality that "every place in the world is better than our own country". Give me a break guys.
My plan of action is very clear: Go back to India and live there happily. If there are other opportunities in US then come back.
Cheers.

Anyway USCIS queue has to be cleared of us ( IV members and others) already in the queue, before illegal's applications can be processed by USCIS.
Probably they are trying to do that here.
IMO everybody becoming current during july fiasco had something to do with the 2007 CIR.

You mean opencongress.org?
http://www.opencongress.org/bill/111-s1085/show
Now this seems to be a light at the end of the tunnel ( not of an incoming train. hope so)
Lets support this bill, there is a website I am trying to remeber the address, I heard while driving on kfyi radio station, where all the bills are listed and people can poll on bills and this will help the lawmakers to find what bill is popular and which one is not.
I'll try to find and post it on the forum, we can poll and support this bill.

At the age of 28, I bought 30 yr 500K term insurance from MetLife for about $475 / yr
It includes a rider which will pay for my premiums and convert term to whole life if i become disable during the policy term..
I plan to buy another 30 years 500K term insurance at the age of 40 (depends on lot of factors, including GC ;))

Sorry - Not everybody is(or wants to be like) Narayan Moorthy.
I bet Narayan Moorthy doesnt have time(if not willingness) to clean his toilet NOW. Maybe we wud have when he was younger(before Infosys) which is a different stroy altogether.
I always cleaned my room, in India and here. What's wrong with that? Infosys founder Narayan Murthy cleans his own toilet (as per his own admission to a newspaper). Does it make him an 'inferior' person to you? Don't you vacuum your room every weekend? Does that make you any lesser person? Ever heard of dignity of labor?
You wrote - "Humans, listen, life is not 1000 years, it is very short, dont waste the best part of your life waiting for gc". So what are you doing ? Not waiting for GC? Then why are you hanging around? There are good opportunities back home . Those sitting in deep-sh*t shouldn't be throwing muck at others stuck in the same sh*t.

As illustrated below, since 1994 there have been over 218,000 un-recaptured employment-based visas lost due to underutilization of the employment-based visas."
Some unused EB #s were recaptured for families in following year. For example, in 1994 there were 29,430 (column 2) unused EB #s. However, 27,721 (= 253,721 (column 3) - 226,000 (family quota)) of these #s were recaptured for families. Thus, only 29,430 - 27,721 = 1,709 (column 4) were un-recaptured.
Also, 50,000 unused EB #s from 01-04 were recaptured for Schedule A.
Finally, unused EB #s in 99 and 00 were recaptured, hopefully for EB.
Thus, unused EB #s are more important then un-recaptured EB #s (mentioned above) since some of them have not been recaptured for EB.
The unused EB #s is 506,384 (total column 2) - 98,941 (99 recaptured for EB) - 31,098 (00 recaptured for EB) = 376, 345

Does anyone know whether hard copy of Labor approval is required for filing Form 1-140. My Labor status shows certified, but my lawyer is conveying that they have not received my hard copy of approval to process Form I-140 and 485. Can some one tell me if we can take a print out of Labor approval from online status and use it for filing 140.

Here is a post from Ron Gotcher's website which might be of interest to some of us trapped in EB3 I retrogression .
http://www.immigration-information.com/forums/showthread.php?t=7065
He expects visa bulletin cut off for EB3 I to jump to 2004 in coming months. No reasoning behing this though..
Ron has not made prediction specifically about India. Somebody asked Ron about filing I-485 with May 2004 PD without mentioning that (s)he was from India. So Ron probably assumed RoW. The OP later clarified that (s)he is from India and Ron hasn't replied to that. So let's wait for Ron to reply before getting excited about it.
If Ron meant EB3-I, he's probably expecting a July 2007 kind of bump, which allows a lot of people to file but results in very few approvals. This can be inferred from his statement that, "your priority date will become current, briefly, in a few months".
We EB3-I's are looking for any sign, just any sign of hope. But let's be cautious in disseminating such information further.

People with grown up kids, I guess would prefer Canada over India. There are many problems starting with the education system, reservations etc. For kids who had been studying here from KG through grade 8-9 it's difficult to get dragged in the rat race in India, especially for normal kids who don't belong to any reservation category.
Yes in Canada we know that finding a job is going to be difficult and we should brain-storm about how to tackle this problem?
What skillsets are in demand? Anybody has idea?
I also have a wild idea like US companies may look at Canada as a outsourcing destination if given very competitive package. One of the biggest advantage will be proximity to the US, so better control over quality etc. That may not turn into a big boom but is a possibility.
I think the said "outsourcing" is already happening to a limited degree .. in fact many IT jobs in Canada are nothing but canadian offices of US firms. But it is never going to reach the extent of India or China, mainly because the savings in terms of cost are not as big.
The biggest problem I find with the canadian job market is limited demand for highly specialized IT skills .. so finding any job will not be a problem; but finding one commensurate with your qualifications and experience will be hard.Secondly, there are fewer tech centers than the US .. so one cannot afford to be too fussy about location etc. As far as I know, only Toronto and surrounding areas in Ontario would qualify as a "tech hub" in the US sense.

My interpretation: the vote was not on Cornyn's amendment; in response to a Point of Order raised, there was a motion to waive the Budget Act for Cornyn's amendment (the Budget Act requires 60 "Yes" votes to bring to the floor amendments to appropriation bills); if 60 senators had voted "Yes" (and agreed to waive the Budget Act requirement for Cornyn's amendment), then a vote on the actual amendment would only have required a simple majority. But because only 55 voted "Yes", the amendment failed to obtain the waiver; it was out of order because it did not qualify as an amendment to this bill.
Because 40 Dems voted no on the waiver does not mean they are opposed to the amendment; they just did not want to vote on this amendment on this bill.

Strange, this guy gets banned, but the person that opened a thread seeking advise on his "shop-lifting" immigration advice, does not. Wonder what our standards are with regards to banning people.
[Dont want to report posts any longer either as those seem to be falling on deaf ears..]
Shoplifting does not divide EB population. But if you open a thread to pitch EB3 against EB2 then I think he should be banned. I can click the red triangle on top of post to report it because I do not think anyone in IV or any senior member has time to waste all day reading every post and deleting them.

Why not parents have a different category... not B2. maybe P1/P2
B2 is tourist visa. Parents are not tourist.
We are here because of our good parents. Forgetting them is most disrespect we do in life.
If we don't care our parents, when we become older(parents) how will our kids will care us?.
Research are proving...if we live together as family like in olden days...many health issues will disappear...everybody will be happy, no stress.
We need to go back to older family system. Now we are proving...green is better. food is medicine. So why not staying together with parents is not good?. This lead us to have a strong long lasting life.
again, you can give your greencard to one of us millions waiting and you can go back home and lead a no-stress life :D

Buddy,
I really dont know, why did you sign a contract , when you were paying for the H1B transfer.
I was in such a contract when i came to the US, and i left the company when i wanted to.These types of contracts don't hold in the court of law (How can they say that the white collar slavery is legal). The only thing which holds is the Non Compete Clause (If you join the Client Directly, in case of a consultancy firm)...
I do not know the exact wording of your contract , and i am not a lawyer. These are my personal views, and do not constitute a legal advice.

Thanks for clarification. I still disagree with you. Media outlets do measure the intensity of the issue but not by amount of SPAM they receive in e-mails. From my personal experince in talking to a journalist, if you send them an e-mail regarding the issue they have published they will definitely defend their point or refute yours and may even look at the issue from your point of view but in all cases they will reply. Now if you want to bring an issue to their attention all you need is take their article and simply put your perspective on it. It will have a far greater impact if it comes as a collective voice of an Organisation such as IV. That's why I originally questioned our approach of spaming them by sending 1000's of e-mail with the same issue. It doesn't bring much to the table. Right ? That's precisely the reason why all organisations have a media relations person who represents the collective view of the entire organization and manage the press releases and all contacts with media.
Tell me about getting a response from reporters. It all depends on their whims and fancies. If they want to write, they are after you. If they dont want to they evade your emails. You have already considered our emails SPAM :) Thats what it would be considered if a bunch of people send the exact same email body. If we do send different message, it might still occur to them or a click to these forums will make them feel that we are trying to get more media exposure. What if the reporter you are writing to has an opinion similar to that of Tancredo on H1B? You are talking about taking an article and putting a perspective on it. Can you be more elaborate? If you are talking about articles being written on us, I believe there are not a lot. How ever there are talk shows that go into every home in the country that do propaganda work. For example a reporter at NPR replied to my email, how ever she doesnt revisit any story atleast for an year. I agree with your idea of Press Releases and I believe it was discussed before. I believe Pappu is working on it and I can do any help needed. How ever, I do not agree that we will be considered SPAM unless its the same message COPY/PASTE. 1000 emails?? Are you kidding me? I am sure it hasnt gone beyond 10 and will not go beyond 25 in the worst case.
If you dont believe what I am saying try contacting the local radio/tv station and see how you the thing works. What you are talking is IDEAL, But we dont live in one. Do we?

Is it a good idea to contact the Congressman even when 90 days are not over. My EAD expires on 18th September and 90 days will get over on 24th September. I have already put in the expedite request with Texas, but haven't heard since then, whether its approved or not. Please suggest what should I do?
I would suggest to wait 2 more weeks before contacting the Congressman, but your call.
